Achieve seamless switchover with single-box multi-band vs. multi-box multi-band

Some multi-box Multi-Band solutions currently available on the market fail to provide a seamless switchover between the traditional microwave and E-band frequencies when the E-band portion becomes unavailable—leading to reduced capacity and the need for manual intervention to correct the link’s performance.

In a multi-box Multi-Band solution, traffic streams from two or more different radios to be combined into a single aggregated payload. Those same radios need to be able to switch between the traffic streams should any of the paths be impacted.

Most Multi-Band solutions require an indoor unit to support traffic aggregation using a link bonding technique, but often this mechanism does not work seamlessly. After a weather-induced outage on the E-band channel, the traffic stream does not restore once the E-band links are back in service. As a result, the Multi-Band link will not resume operating at full capacity until there is manual intervention to reset the link.
